# Override Course Progress

You can override page and section completion progress for learners on a course by course basis.

## Correcting a Learner's Course Progress

Sometimes a learner gets stuck in a course for reasons that have nothing to do with the training itself: a video wouldn't play on their device, they answered a knowledge check in a live session instead of online, or they finished a page but it never registered as done.

**Progress corrections** let Organization Admins unblock learners directly. You can mark a single item, a whole page, or an entire section complete for one learner, preview exactly what will change, and save it with a note explaining why. Every correction is recorded, so your training records stay defensible.

Progress corrections are available to **Organization Admins**. Managers cannot correct progress.

### When to use it

* A learner reports a video or embedded content wouldn't finish on their device, and you've verified they watched it.
* A learner completed a knowledge check verbally or in person and you need the course to reflect that.
* A page shows "In progress" even though the learner did the work.
* You need to reset a page or section so a learner can attempt it again.

Progress corrections are for **individual, verified exceptions**.

### How to correct a learner's progress

1. Go to **Learners** and open the learner's profile.
2. On the **Assignments** tab, find the course and click the **Manage progress** (gear) icon in the **Actions** column.
3. The **Learner Progress** panel opens. At the top you'll see the learner's current assignment status, attempt status, and score.
4. *(Optional but recommended)* Add a **Reason for correction**, for example "Video would not load on the learner's device; verified completion in the live session." This is saved with the correction.
5. Expand the section you need and use the **⋮** menu on the section, page, or item you want to change:
   * **Mark complete** – marks the item, page, or section as finished.
   * **Mark correct** / **Mark incorrect** – sets the answer on a knowledge check question.
   * **Reset progress** – clears progress so the learner can redo it.
6. Review the **Confirm Learner Progress Override** dialog. It shows exactly what will change, for example *Attempt: In progress → Completed, Score: 75% → 100%*, and how many items will be affected.
7. Click **Confirm**. The learner's progress updates immediately.

The panel's status pills and the assignment row on the learner's page update right away. The next time the learner opens the course, they'll see the updated progress or completion screen.

### Section, page, or item?

Corrections roll up the same way normal learner progress does.

| Choose | When |
| ----------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Item** | One specific video, question, or activity didn't register. Everything else stays as-is. |
| **Page** | A learner finished a page but it's still showing as in progress or incomplete. |
| **Section** | Several pages in a section need fixing at once. Marking a section complete marks every page and item inside it. |

Completing the last outstanding item will complete the course and update the learner's score automatically.

### The correction history

Every correction is written to the **Correction history** at the bottom of the Learner Progress panel. Each entry shows:

* Who made the correction and when
* What was changed (section, page, or item, and the action taken)
* The reason, if one was entered

This history stays with the assignment, so anyone reviewing the learner's record later can see why the progress looks the way it does.

### Good to know

* **Minimum time requirements are bypassed.** If a page has a minimum viewing time, marking it complete skips that requirement. The confirmation dialog will warn you when this applies.
* **Linked assignments.** If the learner has more than one assignment sharing the same attempt (for example, from overlapping rules), the panel flags this and the correction applies to all of them.
* **Learners who haven't started.** You can still make a correction; the first one creates the attempt for that assignment.
* **Not every training type supports item-level corrections.** If a course type isn't supported, the panel will tell you when you open it.
* **Attestations can't be overridden.** Any item that requires the learner to personally attest or sign is marked **Learner only** in the panel. The learner must complete these themselves.
